Great teaching! You can't go wrong with Bill Johnson. I have read many books on healing and on healing evangelists. I have read and studied up on Wigglesworth, Lake, all the greats from the Voice of Healing era (summarized very well in "God's General"), John Wimber, a whole slew of books and people from Bethel Church (Bill Johnson's church) and even listened to Randy Clark teach for 7+ hours on Healing and Impartation.But I have to say out of literally thousands of pages and hundreds of hours of videos and audio on the subject, this book truly is the ESSENTIAL book on the subject.Pastors Randy and Bill have managed to summarize the entire area of healing in one fairly-short and very easy to read book. They succinctly summarize the theology behind it (and where the theology had digressed over the years). They clearly explain how and why God heals today, and they even teach very honestly and plainly on how to receive words of knowledge (one way God speaks to His children today).This book is priceless. And I will personally recommend it to anyone and everyone as the BEST book available today on the subject of Healing.Save yourself lots of hunting and searching for the nuts and bolts of healing, and check out this gem.

Two well known servants of the Lord have put a powerful book together that really puts you to work. Don't be in a hurry to plow yourself through it and don't try to digest it while other things around are stressing you. I am rather sure that I'll have to read this book again in a little while, in order to let it plant its seeds deeper. The riches of two men who have been pursuing God's presence all their lives - you will not come close unless you are willing to forgiving yourself for a narrow mind. It's like trying to get a body trim and fit again after neglecting it ... you'll have to do some stretching! And it hurts! But here you have the tool you need for it. And I promise, what you thought would be hard, will show itself so simple. Take a chance and let these two men guide you into your future!

This book really lives up to its title. It delivers sound, biblical teaching, practical applications, and pertinent modern-day stories of God's continuing supernatural work. It closely tracks with the early church's post-resurrection experience of walking in the power and authority of the Holy Spirit. This book is an excellent resource for all who dare to live like Jesus said believers could.

Anyone who believes that humans are rational cost-benefit calculators, as per the economics perspective on human decision-making, needs to read this book. It adds to a recent body of literature, including Gigerenzer's "Gut Feelings," Fine's "A Mind of Its Own," Tavris and Aronson's "Mistakes Were Made (But not by Me"), and Gladwell's "Blink." So, this book, per se, does not really break new ground. However, it does make a contribution to the larger discussion. And much is at stake here, whether in terms of political decision-making (after all, our elected leaders are just like the rest of us in how we think) or daily decisions about what products to buy.The book addresses what the author refers to as one view of human nature (Page xix), "the rational economic model. . . " (For a simple discussion of expectations from the economics view of human nature, see the discussion on pages 64-65). In contrast, this book takes a different--and far more accurate view--of human nature. Dan Ariely says that (Page xix): ". . .this book is about human irrationality--about our distance from perfection." To the extent that government policy and the economic sphere accept the standard view of human rationality, they are basing decisions on an erroneous view of human nature. Will swift and certain punishment deter crime? If people are rational economic calculators, yes. If not? Forget about it. It's phony baloney. That's what is at stake with this book.The book covers a number of relevant topics as to how humans make decisions. We overweigh negative consequences, we make foolish decisions based on whether or not something is labeled as "free," social norms will often trump cost-benefit calculations, how anchoring of choices skews our decision-making, and so on. One of the nice features of this book is the outlining of various experiments that the author and his colleagues have carried out.He concludes that (Page 243): ". . .we are pawns in a game whose forces we largely fail to comprehend." A second lesson? Understand that key point and learn how to make decisions given our departure from the rational decision-making orientation. As the author says (Page 244): "Once we understand when and where we may make erroneous decisions, we can try to be more vigilant, force ourselves to think differently about those decisions, or use technology to overcome our inherent shortcomings."In one sense, being critical of how we make decisions is a bit wrongheaded. That's how people are. Shortcomings? Sure, but that's where we are and that's who we are. And, as Gigerenzer suggests, our flawed decision-making may actually, through the long evolutionary history of our species, do as well or better than economic models of decision-making. So, this is another useful work raising questions about the nature of human nature--and making us more human in the process.

Among the various books available that cover the topic of human behavior, Predictably Irrational is among the top ten (interested readers should also read Sway by Rom Brafman). It's not quite an economics book (for a much better analysis of the many failings of neoclassical economics, read Debunking Economics by Keen) and it's not quite a behavioral psychology book (read Sway) so it falls somewhere in the middle - and therein lies its main weakness.There are some very interesting anecdotes (for example, do you know why we think black pearls are valuable when originally no one wanted to buy them at any price?) and these are where most of the book's value lies.The principal weakness comes from Ariely's conclusions based on the work he's carried out. He acknowledges that we humans are "irrational" compared to the straw man of the "rational optimizer" beloved of neoclassical economic theory, but while some of his examples are interesting he fails to see the entire picture. Thus whereas Keen shows that the neoclassical model is computationally impossible, Ariely merely shows that we have different decision-making processes in two distinct contexts: interpersonal and financial. This is valid, but Ariely then goes on to show that he hasn't really explored the interpersonal context with any degree of rigor.A couple of examples will illustrate what I mean. In the first example Ariely talks about how companies strive to create a "social exchange" in the workplace because people generally work harder and more diligently in social exchange settings than in compensation-based settings. We can think of how we might keep on struggling to get a friend's piano up the stairs of a narrow apartment building long after we'd have given up if we were simply being paid $10 per hour by a stranger to perform the same task. So Ariely notes that companies try to exploit our social side in order to get more work out of us (he doesn't look at the ethics of this attempt, or even at its many infeasibilities). Then he suggests that in order to reinforce the social dynamic and avoid corrupting it with the financial dynamic (because it's not possible to combine the two) companies should not give bonuses but instead should send employees off on a paid-for vacation. The problem, of course, is that most employees don't want to be placed in a parent-child relationship. Most employees think of themselves as independent adults. Saying "here's a vacation we've arranged for you" violates an employee's independence. Worse still it assumes the employee's plans for their free time are irrelevant (the cost of leaving one's home, family, and friends for the duration of the enforced vacation are apparently zero where the company is concerned...). Obviously this recommendation would be disastrous under real-world conditions and one wonders how Ariely failed to think through his proposal.A second example of this failure to think things through comes with Ariely's analysis of cap-and-trade. Rightly he points out that when you set a price on something (in this case pollution) then people may elect to pay more in order to get more. Just as we might only take a single candy from a tray being passed around the group but might buy ten if the candies are being sold, so too might companies pollute less if pollution were a "social good" rather than a priced good. With cap-and-trade companies might simply elect to pay more in order to feel free to pollute more. So Ariely proposes making pollution a "social good." But again a moment's thought shows this to be absurd. Not only do we have far too many examples of companies being quite happy to pollute when it's a cost-free exercise, Ariely's own book shows that executives will ignore social factors when their focus in on financial rewards. As executives are almost exclusively motivated by fat financial rewards, the notion that they would take social norms into account when deciding whether or not (or how much) to pollute is like saying that investment bankers would put the needs of their clients and the financial system in general ahead of their own desire for the $100 million bonus they get from pushing CDOs onto unsuspecting dupes.So in the end the book is worth reading for its anecdotal value but not for Ariely's own conclusions or policy suggestions. He's not-quite an economist and not-quite a behavioral psychologist and ultimately that means he's not-quite useful as a guide to policy formulation on either the micro or the macro scales.

Very helpful.An additional item, after the visit -Some shows are written up (elsewhere) as Wonderful, positive, positive...We checked the discussions on TripAdvisor and all seemed promising for our daughter's birthday celebration.Yes, the music was expertly performed, true to the originals.Oh - the performance in between - utter raunch - we left.Re-reviewing the reviews - there were 1 in 20-30 warning you off.Pay attention - standards aren't.

This book has really good information that I haven't seen anywhere else. Vegas is not a typical kid destination so I felt like I needed some assistance. This book gives great ideas for activities and sight seeing. It gives very specific information about entertainment and where kids are and are not allowed. This one is a must read for parents traveling with kids to Vegas. My only concern is that it was published in 2009. It does list the ESPN Zone as an attraction and I'm pretty sure they closed the entire chain several years ago. I'm a little concerned that the things I've planned may be closed because the book is 2 years old. Great information, updated would be better.

Bought this book when planning a family vacation with my then 7 & 8 year old children. People were amazed at the number of things we did in Las Vegas that was GREAT family fun. A year later the kids still say it was their best vacation. Also includes helpful information about things to do outside of Las Vegas. Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, Rhyolite (ghost town) were all things we enjoyed and all were a short drive away. Las Vegas can be a great base camp for many family oriented activities.

I read the reviews before purchasing this book and it is true that there is quite a bit of information that is out-of-date. Frommers should update it, or offer some updates online. However, globally, the book helps answer questions for parents traveling with kids to Las Vegas. I would say it falls VERY short on the vacation rental section, and I think more and more families are renting houses with private pools and spending their days on the strip or at other attractions and economizing and relaxing at home. Having a family stay on the strip is cramped and expensive. I did like the sections of the book that had ideas related to age groups, which is very helpful. I wish there were more guide books on the market for this topic - even one more would help! And for those going to Las Vegas soon, the Wet N Wild waterpark is opening May 2013 which is yet another option for family fun.

Too much information is not updated (nor were the index pages checked)! There were no talking camels at Luxor. There was no Pink Pony Cafe at Circus, Circus. There was no desert storm at the souvenir store at Showcase Mall. There was no Trojan Horse and no FAO Schwarz store at Caesar's Palace. The smoke at Circus, Circus was so bad we could not use the midway or several of the restaurants.Children have short attention spans and tire easily. With that in mind, it would have been helpful to know the location of attractions inside the huge hotel/casino complexes. Some complexes have few bathrooms or those that are not easily spotted.Have these editors really traveled with children?

Loaded with helpful info for planning a family trip. Maps, phone numbers, drive times, etc.If it had pictures I would have given it a 5.

This book really helped us decide what to do in Las Vegas. We do not gamble so we wanted "other" things to do. What we found is Las Vegas is not "family" friendly and you have to take your children into the gaming areas of most casinos to see the attractions. The book did offer suggestions that we did find helpful. Like how to avoid certain crowds and what shows are appropriate for kids. Much better than some of the other books out there.

I really liked the book, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because a good part of the book talks about hotel accomadations and booking flights, etc. and I had already done that by the time I bought the book. So half of the book was of no use to me, but the book had good recommendations.

Edited to add: I was able to take a moist paper towel and clean the glue off.I bought four different sayings for co-workers. They look great, but one has some fingerprints on the cover that won’t come off. It looks like dried glue residue. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to return the item, so I will have to gift it the way it is. I would give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the dried glue.

Has a very plain look and this was a gift. But the plainness, I guess, makes it a working notebook.

It lost a star because I felt the lines didn't make good use of the pages. The margins were huge which might be a plus for some. I got these for my rockstar team and they loved them but mainly because of the sentiment of the message. The cover has a nice quality.

About the Author

Tony Grice, who has been playing and coaching badminton nationally and internationally since 1975, has been ranked as 11th nationwide in menÂ’s doubles and 15th in menÂ’s singles. He has taught and coached the sport at both the high school and college levels. Tony has been a board member and national team exercise physiologist for the U.S. Badminton Association (USBA). He traveled with the U.S. National Badminton Team to the 1987 World Championships in Beijing as team trainer. Two years later he was manager for the South Team at the 1989 Olympic Sports Festival in Oklahoma City, and he was official umpire at the 1993 Olympic Festival in San Antonio. He holds USBA certification as a Level III national coach and regional umpire. Tony has taught badminton at Northwestern State University in Louisiana, the University of Texas at Austin, and Texas A&M University, where he served as coordinator of racquet sports. He has also conducted numerous badminton instructional clinics in the United States, Guatemala, and Mexico. In addition to working with the 1996 Olympic Badminton Team, Tony continues to teach a badminton class each semester at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where he is a professor in the Physical Education Department and director of the Aerobic-Human Performance Laboratory. Tony received his BS and MEd degress from Memphis State University and an EdD from Northwestern State University in Louisiana. He resides in Abilene with his wife, Kristen, and in his spare time enjoys playing badminton, tennis, and golf.

It's a fairly comprehensive book, though repetitive at times. Has a good number of drills; I wish I had the time to do them.

Well it was bought for a class and while not the most exciting book. It does explain basics. I would save my money though as most likely it has nothign that you won't learn in a class or lesson.

Very useful / instructive. A "must read" for anyone serious about learning and/or teaching badminton.

Worst book written for Badminton, a total waste of time and money, after four hours I still know what the hell he was saying???

Was looking for a book that was not so basic. For beginners. I felt the write up totally miss sold me on the book.

This book was required reading for one of my college courses. It meet my expectations & was what the professor intended.

The book was new but wow shipping took over two weeks and it said the book was in stock. Good deal if you have the time to wait for it to get to you.

This review is not so much about the book's content as it is the quality of this particular book's Kindle version. I'll be purchasing the physical book and will review its content once I have a chance to get into it.I've read a ton of Kindle books, and have bought a number of Kindle versions of tech books, and never have I had this issue. I was so excited to get this book because I need to collect web traffic information for literally thousands of IIS servers. What a disappointment. The regular text of of the book is completely normal--you can resize it, change the color, etc. However, the log parser examples are apparently images, and many are absolutely, hilariously, MICROSCOPIC in the KIndle version. They don't enlarge when the text is enlarged and they don't copy. I tried a number of work arounds to enlarge them (mainly doing a screen capture and copying them into Word or a graphics program), and since they're so small they don't enlarge well--they just look like a bunch of pixels. I tried reading the book on a Kindle, my Samsung S5, and in Kindle for PC, and it's all the same. On my phone, which has a nice big screen, it's really hard to tell that the examples are actually text--they just look like fuzzy lines.So, now I have to pay more for the physical book and lug it around with me rather than having the convenience and flexibility of a Kindle version. That really sucks, as I'm a huge fan of KIndle books (not to mention a fan of paying less).

After searching the web for ideas I came upon this book, bought it and just love it. There is a lot of information here and while you won't use all of it you'll find yourself picking and choosing techniques and scripts for implementation in your own environment.The data extract process has been completed and the gurus are now building the dashboards ... but so far everyone who has seen preliminary results of the analysis really likes what they see - and I'm recommended this book to several co-workers with similar tasks facing them.I can't recommend this book highly enough - it's great!

I'm querying IIS logs, Event Logs, CSV files and more with ease.I've got this book at my side any time I go to write a new script. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Being able to easily correlate information from multiple event logs is a big help.Many of the examples are aimed at maintaining and improving security. I found the techniques described helpful for chasing linked defects in a multiple-machine server farm.Unfortunately, the examples from the book are no longer available on the publisher's web site.

This book is factual, accurate, and authoritative. But I don't like technical books that read like technical books. "Huh?" you say.If I were to write this book, I would make it easier to understand with ample examples. It's better than Log Paser's Help, but not by a whole lot. I believe that technical books should be reasonably easy to understand - even by the non-technical.My 3 star rating is just my opinion/experience. Others may find this book to be just the ticket.

looks like a good reference book for log passers. However, there are enough examples on line to avoid the need to buy the book if you want a desk reference this seems helpful.

However, a couple of points:1. many pages in the book use a dark gray background with black text to highlight ideas - its hard to read, not enough contrast.2. Not found anything in the book that isn't already on the web - in large numbers, with hundreds (thousands) of sites churning the same information (welcome to the internet). But it is still a valuable resource for writing scripts.
